Prologue (Irina & Mikael Love story)

The first time I saw him, I immediately knew that he and I were destined to live our lives together. I knew from the first sight that he would be my lover, the love of my life, my protector and the father of my children. Between us, it was instant love at first sight. Mikael unlocked something in me, he managed to get me out of my shell, my comfort zone and the little world I had created for myself to offer me something better: Big Love. This feeling that I never believed in before meeting him, probably because Eric Devereaux my "father" abandoned my mother (Miranda Devereaux) when she gave birth to me, he also abandoned me, refusing to raise me. I saw what Mom went through and how much she suffered after Eric left. Yes, I don't call him dad simply because I never thought of him as such, he was not there when I needed my father and even less when Mom needed her husband. If he wanted to be part of my life, he just had to not leave in the first place. Anyway, back to what I was saying. So I was afraid of suffering, of being abandoned, of being in pain. Whenever boys asked me, either I found excuses, all as stupid as each other, or I kept my head buried in my books, so as not to go out with them. But Mikael is not like that, I know he will never abandon me. With him, everything is different, I feel safe.

What attracted me to Atkins was his tenderness, but above all his love for music. I love watching him play the piano, he seems immersed in a whole other world, and he always has this magnificent smile that makes me melt. He is so happy and fulfilled when he plays this instrument. He even wrote me a song one day, it's called "Far from you", basically the lyrics say that it's impossible for him to find himself outside of me and that I'm his reason for living. The piano melody and the lyrics are just beautiful. If you knew how much I cried those days, of joy, of course. It was way too adorable, it was one of the happiest days of my life.

Mikael's POV

What attracted me to Irina was her shyness, but above all her love for reading. I love it when her head is in her books, she's just adorable when she's focused. I still remember our first meeting, his "Hi", with his soft shy voice. it made me melt. The Devereaux are highly respected in the village, and they come from good families. Me, I had the most beautiful of them all. I can swear to you that I would never abandon Irina, I am incapable of making her suffer, I love her too much, and she is an angel fallen from heaven. I am very lucky to have this woman in my life.
